What do you think about when you imagine winter time? You might imagine days spent snowed in thanks to winter storms, eating more food than you thought humanly possible, and treating the gym the same way you treat the dentist - only going there when you absolutely HAVE to. And what does all of that add up to?

Well, we’re sure that you can imagine what it means for your body and your fitness goals! Staying fit during the winter-time is definitely a difficult thing for most people. But it doesn’t have to! We’re here to tell you that there are some simple ways you can motivate yourself to stay fit and toned during winter. Follow these tips and you’ll be able to keep your fitness goals on track.

Staying fit in the winter with your family and friends is one of the best ways to hold each other accountable and reach your goals together. Plus, you’ll be able to work off those Christmas cookies you baked together!

Spend some of those holiday gift cards on fitness gear.

Want to know one of the best motivations to stay fit in the winter? Getting some brand-new fitness gear (new sneakers, protein powder, medicine balls, etc.) to take your workout to the next level. You probably got some gift cards in your stocking, so why not spend them on items to help inspire your workouts? You’ll be pushing yourself to get to the gym or even just exercise at home when it’s too cold outside.

Take up a winter sport or two.

If you’ve never thought about taking up a winter sport, now’s your time. Winter is the perfect time to take advantage of those sports that you can only participate in, in the cold! Sports like snowboarding, skiing, hockey, and ice-skating are perfect to get your heart-rate up and burn some of that weight you gained from holiday goodies. This is also the perfect excuse to take a little holiday vacation with your friends or family. For example, you can head up to a ski area to get started with skiing & snowboarding.

Be sure you bring warm layers along with some heating packs to stay warm while you take on these sports. You’ll be thankful to have some compact & portable heat packs in your pockets while on the slopes.

Invest in a personal trainer to motivate you.

If you’re having trouble getting to the gym in the winter time, then it’s time to invest in a personal trainer. You might have never thought of hiring a trainer before, but this is the absolute best way to keep yourself motivated and stay fit during winter. He or she will push you to get to the gym regularly (you’re paying for their services, after all!) and ensure you’re constantly challenging your body.

Staying fit during winter is tough, but completely possible.

Maybe you’ve spent the last two months indulging and lounging during the holiday season. It’s time to set your mind, your intentions, and your goals for the new year. Getting fit and staying fit during winter will keep your body in tip-top shape and ensure you’re ready to show off your hard work in the summer.
